KickStand has granted thousands of bikes to people over our 15-year history. If you are financially insecure we can help you get a bike at no cost.
How to receive a bike:
Get a KickStand sponsor letter from an organization familiar with your circumstances. See our Sponsors page for a list of our Partners. See our Kickstand Sponsor Letter below for more info.
Send an email to kickstandknoxville@gmail.com Please include the following information:
Full name
Sponsor organization
Height and/or pants inseam
Are you good with hand brakes and shifting gears?
We will let you know when your bike is ready and make an appointment for you. Please wait 2 weeks before following up with us.
All children receiving bikes from Kickstand are required to have a parent present when receiving the bike.
Conditions:
We are a small group of volunteers, so we limit folks to ONE (1) bike per year. You can exchange a bike you outgrew.
The bike you will receive depends on your height, biking experience and type of riding you do. If you'd like a specific type or brand of bike, check out our Bikes for Sale page!
If your bike is broken, we're happy to help you fix it, our volunteers can teach you to make repairs. Please make an appointment in advance. Monetary donations for bike services are appreciated and all go toward our mission.
If your bike is stolen, get a police report so we can help you replace.
Kickstand Sponsor Letter
Dear Partners,
KickStand continues to work sustainably with our community partners to get bicycles to people who need them. Please help us to better serve those in need with these simple directions.
Give each person whom you have identified as needing a bicycle a dated sponsor letter on your organization's letterhead that they can bring to our shop. Address this to KickStand Community Bicycle Shop. Briefly state the person's need for a bicycle such as, “[name] needs a bicycle to get to appointments and work.” Then include the following directions in the body of the letter and read it to the person in need of a bike:
By appointment only, email us at kickstandknoxville@gmail.com
Please Be Respectful of the Volunteers.
Please follow CDC guidelines in regards to symptoms and illnesses.
